Ellen Gruben Nursing Endowment
Description – The Ellen Gruben Nursing Endowed Scholarship is more than just a financial award; it is her memory we cherish and honor with this endowed scholarship. It is our hope to improve the human condition through the recipients of this scholarship who will create solutions for a healthier community and make positive differences in the lives of countless patients, carrying forward Ellen’s spirit of empathy and healing. By supporting their educational journey, we aim to reduce the financial barriers that many aspiring nurses face and enable them to carry forward the torch of compassionate care.
Criteria – Recipients of the Scholarship must be accepted into the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. First preference will be provided to students who are from Fisher or Runnels counties; second preference will be provided to students who are from one of the 191 rural Texas counties as classified by the US Office of Management and Budget.

UNT Health College of Nursing Annual Scholarship
Description – The UNT Health College of Nursing Annual Scholarship was established in 2024 to support students pursuing a degree in the UNT Health College of Nursing.
Criteria – Pursuing a degree in College of Nursing Undergraduate, RN to BSN, Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health, MSN in Practice Innovation, or College of Nursing Graduate Certificate programs. Must meet federal guidelines for financial need. Applicants must complete the entire FAFSA process by May 1st. Must answer the supplemental question and describe why you deserve this scholarship.
Sybil Morgan Little Nursing Endowed Scholarship
Description – The Sybil Morgan Little Nursing Scholarship is more than just a financial award; it is a symbol of hope, dedication, and the enduring impact of a life well-lived. It is our hope that the recipients of this scholarship will, in turn, make a positive difference in the lives of countless patients, carrying forward Sybil’s spirit of empathy and healing. By supporting their educational journey, we aim to reduce the financial barriers that many aspiring nurses face and enable them to carry forward the torch of compassionate care.
Criteria – Recipients of the scholarship must be accepted into the RN to BSN Program. First preference for recipients of the scholarship is for RN to BSN students who are single parents.

Jeremiah G. and W. Kaylene Mills RN to BSN Endowed Scholarship
Description – To honor the generosity of longtime Health Science Center faculty member, John Mills, DO, who serves as Associate Professor in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Mills founded the Health Science Center’s correctional medicine program that provides much-needed medical care for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. His wife, Kaylene Mills, RN, BSN, WOCN, worked her way through an associate degree in nursing, earned her BSN, and became a certified wound care and ostomy nurse.
Criteria – Recipients of the scholarship must be accepted into the RN to BSN Program. First preference for recipients of the scholarship is for RN to BSN students who are single parents.

Bob and Jane Ferguson Nursing Endowed Scholarship
Description – To maximize student success by removing financial obstacles. It is our hope the recipients of this scholarship will make a positive difference in the lives of countless patients while improving the nursing profession and ultimately creating healthier communities.
Criteria – Recipients of the Scholarship must be accepted into a UNT Health College of Nursing degree program. First preference for recipients of the Scholarship is for students who are the first in their families to earn a post-secondary degree or credential.
