Media spotlight: UNT Health Science Center’s DNA team

Scientists at UNT Health Science Center who are trying to identify human remains excavated from a former reform school in Florida saw their work highlighted in news media outlets across the country this week.

Led by Arthur Eisenberg, PhD, UNTHSC scientists are trying to extract DNA from remains that are decades old in hopes of identifying boys who went missing from the now-closed Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, Fla. University of South Florida anthropologists have announced that they have excavated 55 graves, which are 24 more than official records indicate should be there.
