At UNT Health Fort Worth, we value animal welfare and see the use of animals in research as a privilege. The Animal Care and Use program at UNT Health is committed to the care and welfare of all animals within the program and is supported by two important units: the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

The Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM)

  To ensure research animals needs are met in their:

* Health

* Welfare

* Housing

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

  Comprised of experienced Members & Staff:

* Chair & Vice Chairs

* Scientific, Non-Scientific, Community Members

* Administrators

  To assess the institution’s program by reviewing:

* Proposed and on-going animal use activities

* The Program

* The Animal Use Facilities
