Dr. Rance Berg named Interim Chair for Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics

Dr. Rance Berg has been appointed interim chair for the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics at UNT Health’s College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences.
As Dr. Berg assumes leadership responsibilities for the department, he will also continue in his role as assistant dean for graduate education and admissions, where he leads admissions processes and provides oversight of core curriculum for the traditional programs.
In addition to his current leadership role, Dr. Berg has strong previous experience managing extramurally funded research programs, serving as a graduate advisor, and mentoring and training graduate students as a faculty member.
“I want to thank Dr. Berg for his eagerness to take on these additional duties. His extensive experience and institutional knowledge add great value to the department and CBTS,” said Dr. David Keller, CBTS Dean.
He succeeds Dr. Bruce Bunnell, who served as chair of MIG since 2020.
