UNT Health
MHA – Master of Health Administration - Online

The Master of Health Administration (MHA) Cohort program is designed to prepare full-time students for management and leadership roles in healthcare organizations. Students are admitted once each year as a cohort and complete the program through a structured, full-time course of study designed to support progression to graduation in five consecutive semesters. Students follow a weekly activity calendar that occupies 9-hour blocks of time, Monday to Friday (9 a.m. – 6 p.m.).

The curriculum is guided by the UNT Health MHA Competency Model, which reflects the complexity, accountability, and evolving demands of healthcare leadership. Through coursework, internship, and integrative learning experiences, students develop the knowledge and applied skills needed to lead people, improve systems, interpret data, manage resources, and support organizational performance across a range of healthcare settings.

Graduates are prepared to contribute to organizations such as hospitals, managed care organizations, medical group practices, ambulatory care organizations, long-term care organizations, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, consulting firms, government agencies, and for-profit and non-profit organizations.

By the conclusion of the program, students are expected to demonstrate competency in:

  • Strategic Management
  • Accountable Leadership
  • Communication
  • Relationship Management
  • Performance Measurement
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Ethics and Integrity
  • Systems Thinking
  • Evidence-Based Decision-Making
  • Financial Management
  • Quality and Process Improvement
  • Project Management

Full-time enrollment is required. Students in the cohort program are expected to graduate in five consecutive semesters and follow a structured weekly schedule of curricular and co-curricular activities.

Each student in the MHA Cohort program is required to complete a full-time internship in an approved health services organization under the guidance of a qualified preceptor. The internship provides a supervised practice-based experience in which students apply concepts and skills developed in the classroom, deepen their understanding of organizational operations and leadership, and strengthen their readiness for professional practice. The internship is managed under the direction of the MHA Program Director, in collaboration with faculty, students, and field preceptors.
