Research Budget & Finance

The Research Budget and Finance Office provides financial leadership and oversight for the Division of Research and Innovation (DRI). By working closely with schools, departments and research institutes, the Research Budget and Finance Office provides strategic financial guidance, maintain fiscal accountability and support sound financial decision-making to ensure responsible stewardship of university resources while supporting the financial operations that enable the research enterprise to thrive.
It is responsible for:
- financial planning and annual budget development for the DRI by coordinating the preparation of the division’s annual operating budget, aligning financial planning with institutional priorities and ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support research initiatives, infrastructure and administrative operations.
- Monitoring the fiscal health of the division by tracking budgets against actual expenditures throughout the fiscal year by continuous oversight of DRI financial activities
- Developing complex financial analyses and reports that provide insights into financial performance, funding utilization and operational efficiency to support leadership decision-making.
To promote consistent financial practices and strengthen financial management across
the research community, the Research Budget and Finance Office provides expert financial
support and guidance on budgeting, financial management and university financial policies
through training and resources to research administrators, department staff and institute
center administrators.
Through strategic planning, financial analysis and collaborative support, the Research
Budget and Finance team plays a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity, efficiency
and long-term sustainability of the Division of Research and Innovation.
