WHY DID YOU CHOOSE UNT Health COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH?
I heard about this university from my mentors at my undergrad (Austin College) I attended and my professors instilled this belief in me that I had the skills to succeed in public health. It’s encouraging that most of my public health professors received their higher education at this amazing school. I knew right then that I was going to the right place to further my educational pursuits. This campus as a whole is very welcoming and diverse. Living and growing up in Fort Worth makes the transition very easy for me and knowing that I have connections on the campus makes me feel comfortable in a new environment.

HOW DO YOU PLAN ON APPLYING THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAIN TO YOUR FUTURE CAREER?
I hope to take all of the experience and coursework I attain over the next two years to further my career to work in a hospital or clinical setting that utilizes my skill sets of epidemiology, data science, and biostatistics to improve the health in local communities. Whether that’s pursuing a career further in medicine or working in a federal agency, only time will tell, but I hope to utilize this well-earned degree to improve the world around me by improving population health.
