WHY DID YOU CHOOSE UNT Health COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH?
I chose UNT Health after my in person tour due to the colleges passion of centering
the community. And the diversity and importance that students serve on this campus.
Coming from a large university student voices and opinions were often not heard. Here
at UNT Health there is a kind welcoming environment created for all with the opportunity
to learn among like minded students. But most importantly the support that this school
builds for student success with their program structure, each instructor that I met
on my tour was excited to provide mentorship and build relationships with their students.
HOW DO YOU PLAN ON APPLYING THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAIN TO YOUR FUTURE CAREER?
I hope to give back to my community and create maternal and child health programs
to provide resources and education to women and children in need. Throughout this
program I have learned the importance of meeting people where they are and tailoring
public health to communities. As well as continuously learning, public health is an
evolving field. It is best to learn from other healthcare professionals in my field
specifically on how to best navigate maternal and child health issues. With an end
goal of creating a free maternal and child health clinic in rural areas, collaboration
with other fields and professions plays a vital role and IPE here at UNT Health CPH
provides start to this journey.
