UNT Health Fort Worth named Girls Inc. of Tarrant County Smart Partner Award recipient

UNT Health Fort Worth was honored as the 2026 Smart Partner Award recipient by Girls Inc. of Tarrant County during the organization’s annual Champions Breakfast on March 5 at Cullen Yards.
The Smart Partner Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to empowering girls through education, mentorship and community engagement.
Over the past year, UNT Health has partnered with Girls Inc. of Tarrant County to expand health education opportunities and introduce students to careers in science, technology, engineering and math. Through campus visits, field trips, STEM Saturday collaborations, career panels and volunteer mentorship, UNT Health faculty and staff have helped create meaningful learning experiences for girls across Tarrant County.
Students have also benefited from hands-on learning opportunities, access to technology and conversations with health professionals working to meet critical needs in North Texas. In addition, UNT Health’s marketing team provided strategic guidance to help Girls Inc. of Tarrant County strengthen how it shares its impact and raise awareness of programs available to youth throughout the region.
Leadership from UNT Health Chief of Staff Taunya Williams, who also serves on the Girls Inc. of Tarrant County Board of Directors, has played a key role in advancing the partnership and expanding opportunities for local youth.
"I could not be prouder of this honor," Williams said. "This partnership has truly been a team effort. Every time I have put out the call for volunteers, UNT Health faculty, staff and students have leaned in. As mission-driven organizations, we are proud to continue deepening our relationship and helping make girls strong, smart and bold."
For 50 years, Girls Inc. of Tarrant County has worked alongside community partners to inspire girls to reach their full potential. Through this partnership, UNT Health helps create pathways for the next generation of health professionals and community leaders.
