Research Infrastructure

Core Facilities

UNT Health Fort Worth has two open access, fee-free, Discovery Center laboratories which are available to provide shared laboratory space and supplemental instrumentation to researchers, clinical faculty and start-up companies enrolled in the Science Center’s commercialization program.

Also available to investigators on a fee for service basis are a number of state-of-the-art research Core facilities. CORE facilities are managed individually by the specific CORE administrator.

Electronic Resources

Electronic Laboratory Notebook – The Research Office has acquired a license for the Electronic Laboratory Notebook platform LabArchives. This will provide UNT Healthlabs a secure and easily accessible means for managing their research projects and data.

Animal Facilities

Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) provides professional and technical services for laboratory animal care, veterinary medical services, and animal research project support for faculty, students, and employees of UNTHSC. Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees all animal use, approves animal use protocols, and inspects both laboratories and vivaria and provides training in the use of animals in research. The current Chairperson of the IACUC is Lad Dory, Ph.D., Department of Physiology and Anatomy.

Human Subject Research: Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Office of Research Compliance oversees the North Texas Regional Institutional Review Board, and provides training in the protection of human research subjects through the CITI Course in the Protection of Human Subjects. The current Chairperson of the IRB is Chris Cooper, MPAS, PA-C, Physician Assistant Program.

Retention of Research Documents, Records, and Information Management

The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) is the Federal agency that monitors institutional investigations of research misconduct and facilitates the responsible conduct of research (RCR) through educational, preventive, and regulatory activities and provides information about research data management and maintenance.
