Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
UNT Health's IACUC is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the proper care
and use of animals in research, testing and education, while also providing assistance
to investigators in planning and conducting animal experiments in accordance with
the highest scientific, humane and ethical principles.

Research Conflict of Interest
The Research Conflict of Interest (RCOI) Office and RCOI Committee at UNT Health assist
researchers in managing and navigating situations in which financial or other personal
considerations may compromise – or have the appearance of compromising – a researcher’s
professional judgment in the design, conduct or reporting of research. The office
and committee have developed training programs, policies, and procedures to help ensure
transparency and safeguard the integrity of the institution’s research.
Resources:
International Compliance — Export Controls
The Office of Export Controls & International Compliance (ECIC) administers the university’s
export control program and provides institution-wide regulatory oversight for export-controlled
activities, international compliance, and research data management, including sponsor-
and federally-mandated data governance requirements, in line with applicable federal
and state regulations and institutional policies across research and non-research
activities. The office establishes clear compliance standards, defined accountability
structures, and coordinated oversight mechanisms to support federal funding eligibility,
protect institutional intellectual property, ensure lawful international engagement,
and maintain executive-level regulatory accountability across academic, clinical,
research, and operational divisions.
Resources:
Research Security
In line with federal and state-level laws and institutional policies, the UNT Health Research Security Office is committed to protecting research from foreign influence and interference, cybersecurity risks, and the unauthorized access or theft of research data and technologies by partnering with researchers to ensure compliance with federal research security
standards and to maintain a secure environment for innovation.
Research Integrity & Misconduct
Federal and institutional policies set standards for the ethical conduct of research
and describe what needs to happen in cases where an allegation of research misconduct is made against a UNT Health researcher. UNT Health has set a clear policies and procedures in the handling of research misconduct cases.
Resources:
Responsible Conduct of Research
All UNT Health investigators should become familiar with the rules and guidelines for responsible
conduct of research. Included are topics such as supervision of students and trainees,
data gathering and retention, authorship, and publication. Adherence to the rules
and guidelines will protect an investigator and his/her laboratory in the event there
are questions of research integrity.
