Grants to Increase Local Dementia Support (GILDS)
Texas Department of State Health Services selected UNT Health to be a Grants to Increase Local Dementia Support (GILDS) program provider supporting Tarrant County. The program provides support to people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their caregivers as well as promotes early diagnosis and detection of dementia. GUIDE Model
The Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model is designed to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their caregivers. Participants on traditional Medicare receive free assistance navigating the disease.
Dementia CARES
Dementia CARES (Caregiver Access to Resources, Education, and Support) is a six-week caregiver education and support program for those caring for someone with dementia. Training for Paid Caregivers and Health Care Providers
UNT Health’s library of online continuing education modules offers free, self-paced training to all those who care for older adults, regardless of discipline or career stage.
Virtual Caregiver Support Group
The support group happens at noon on the second and fourth Thursday of the month and is open to all caregivers. No registration is needed. The Alzheimer’s Association: Caregiver Resources and Support
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The organization offers virtual and in-person programs and support, free online resources, and a 24/7 Helpline.

Texas Health and Human Services Department of State Health Services offers information about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and resources that can help.
James L. West Center for Dementia Care: Free Caregiver Training and Support
James L. West Center has a variety of free caregiver training and support offerings for family members and individuals caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. Sessions are available in-person, on-demand and in live virtual sessions.
2-1-1 Texas
2-1-1 Texas is a free statewide 24-hour information and referral service. By simply dialing 2-1-1 or visiting the website, people can receive information about comTexas munity and social services, such as food pantries, emergency shelter, rent assistance, utility bill assistance, child care, and senior services to name a few.
Dementia Friendly Fort Worth
Part of a nationwide initiative, Dementia Friendly Fort Worth promotes dementia awareness and education across all sectors of the community, including businesses, organizations and individuals. Since 2018, DFFW has offered innovative social opportunities for persons living with dementia and their care partners.
