Biosafety Training
All persons working in laboratories where biohazardous materials are used or stored shall participate in and complete biosafety training appropriate to their work environment and position duties. Such training shall be repeated on a basis deemed necessary by the IBC and based on requirements to improve safety at UNT Health, increase safety awareness in work areas, and meet requirements set forth by CDC, NIH, OSHA and other applicable regulations and standards.
In addition to registration of work involving potentially pathogenic agents/material, training is required for research personnel. The Basic Biosafety Training is available online.
Videos for proper removal of gloves Part A & B – UNT Health, EH&S effort to promote biosafety and biosecurity Month.
Proper usage and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE) is a critical component of biosafety and occupational health. Gloves, gowns, masks and other PPE form the first line of defense against hazardous materials, infectious agents and chemicals. However, improper glove removal can compromise protection and increase the risk of contamination. To address this, UNT Health Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) developed a training initiative highlighting correct glove removal techniques. In collaboration with the Compliance Department and Academic Innovation, EHS produced two instructional videos demonstrating safe glove removal methods.
