UNT Health Caregiver Resources
Caregiver Access to Resources, Education & Support (Dementia CARES)
When: Wednesdays, April 1 - May 6, 2026.
Time: 10:30-11:30 (morning) or 4:00-5:00 (afternoon)
This is a FREE 6-week caregiver education and support program for those caring for someone with dementia. Each week of the program focuses on a different topic, including:
- Behavioral Changes
- How to Ask for Help
- Communication Skills
- Community Resources
- Dementia Live
- Caring for the Caregiver

UNT Health Brain Health Study for Caregivers
The Self-Management Program for Brain Health will support participants to make lifestyle changes that will promote brain health and cognitive functioning. A combination of health coaching, targeted assessment with feedback, and education will be used to provide a personalized approach to addressing brain function and health, empowering participants to self-manage their participation. This study is for caregivers or individuals who do not have a dementia diagnosis.

A special program for people with memory loss and their care partners, In the Moment is a partnership between the Modern and the Alzheimer’s Association of North Central Texas. Every month, participants experience works of art at the museum through intimate conversations with docents and thoughtful projects designed by the Modern’s education staff. The program takes place from 10 am to 11:30 am on select Thursdays, once a month, with space available for 20 participants.
This free program includes admission to the galleries and all materials are provided. Walk-ins are welcome.

Clinical social worker, Joan Asseff, LCSW-S, facilitates each Caregiver Conversations meeting, including relevant discussion questions to help attendees share experiences, barriers, strategies, and much more. These virtual meetings, hosted by Alzheimer’s Texas, will be open to all local caregivers and loved ones of those living with dementia.
