Caregiver Access to Resources, Education & Support (Dementia CARES)

This is a FREE 6-week caregiver education and support program for those caring for someone with dementia. Each week of the program focuses on a different topic, including:

UNT Health Brain Health Study for Caregivers
The Self-Management Program for Brain Health will support participants to make lifestyle changes that will promote brain health and cognitive functioning. A combination of health coaching, targeted assessment with feedback, and education will be used to provide a personalized approach to addressing brain function and health, empowering participants to self-manage their participation. This study is for caregivers or individuals who do not have a dementia diagnosis.

Make the holidays more joyful and less stressful. Learn how to include your loved one in celebrations, choose thoughtful gifts, and plan dementia-friendly travel. We’ll also discuss ways to manage caregiver burnout and share communication tips to help you navigate the season with confidence and care.
In the Moment at the Modern

A special program for people with memory loss and their care partners, In the Moment is a partnership between the Modern and the Alzheimer’s Association of North Central Texas. Every month, participants experience works of art at the museum through intimate conversations with docents and thoughtful projects designed by the Modern’s education staff. This free program includes admission to the galleries and all materials are provided. Walk-ins are welcome.
Caregiver Conversations
Date: November 13 and December 11, 3 – 4 p.m.

Clinical social worker, Joan Asseff, LCSW-S, facilitates each Caregiver Conversations meeting, including relevant discussion questions to help attendees share experiences, barriers, strategies, and much more. These virtual meetings, hosted by Alzheimer’s Texas, will be open to all local caregivers and loved ones of those living with dementia.
Family Dynamics in Caregiving: Coping with Conflict and Engaging Family Members in Care

A dementia diagnosis affects more than just the individual—it touches the entire circle of family and friends. This program offers practical guidance on navigating shifting family roles, improving communication, and reducing conflict. Learn how to support one another with compassion, identify common caregiving dynamics, and take proactive steps to strengthen relationships through the dementia journey.

I’ve Got Joy! Is an interactive concert filled with Sunday school songs, uplifting hymns and revival music, designed specifically for our neighbors fighting dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Ticket sales help fund Texas Senior Ministries mission to plant and grow joyful church congregations in Assisted Living & Memory Care communities starting in Texas.
Managing Money: A Caregiver’s Guide to Finances

If you or someone you know is facing Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or another chronic illness, it’s never too early to put financial plans in place. Join us to learn tips for managing someone else’s finances, how to prepare for future care costs and the benefits of early planning.
