About Us
What is NorTex?
NorTex is a primary care practice-based research network (PBRN) which functions as a collaborative effort to conduct research among North Texas primary care practices, including family medicine, general internal medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology clinics.
Encompass
NorTex is housed in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. NorTex includes private practices, county health systems, federally qualified health centers, and other primary care / community practices located across the metroplex and in rural Texas.
Success
Our success is measured by the increasing number of community partners, research studies reflecting the interests and needs of these partners, as well as the translation of research applications into primary care practice with the intention of improving the health of our community.
Goals
Our overall goal is to revolutionize the way we conduct primary care and public health related research with NorTex being the inter-locking key.
- To preserve and foster growth in the network by creating and maintaining relationships with researchers, primary care clinicians, and clinics in Texas.
- To develop areas of research priorities based on the needs and interests of the Texas community and NorTex members.
- To offer research resources to NorTex partners and members.
- To create and maintain a forum for members of NorTex to communicate and express research interests and disseminate research findings.
