Our Process
The technology commercialization process guides research discoveries from the lab to the marketplace through a structured, four-stage journey.
It begins when an UNT Health creator or inventor submits a Technology Disclosure Form (TDF) to the Technology Transfer Office, triggering a comprehensive evaluation that analyzes technical feasibility, patentability, commercial demand and expert feedback.
These inputs converge at a critical Go/No-Go decision gate, which determines whether UNT Health will:
- Actively seek IP protection (patents, trademarks, copyright registration, etc.) and negotiate licensing deals with industry partners
- Defer the decision to gather additional research data
- Decline managing the technology
