Biggest piece of study advice for new students?

Don’t just memorize — focus on understanding the concepts so you can apply them later. And don’t be afraid to ask questions early and often!

What do you do to decompress?

I enjoy baking, working on puzzles and building LEGO sets. I find them relaxing but also a fun way to be creative and challenge myself outside of school.

How has your experience as a peer tutor enhanced your understanding of the course material?

Tutoring has deepened my understanding because teaching others forces me to break concepts down simply and identify gaps in my own knowledge. It’s made me a stronger learner too.

Most rewarding aspect of being a tutor?

The most rewarding part is seeing that “light bulb moment” when a student understands something they were struggling with — and knowing I helped make that possible.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I was born and raised in Belize before moving to Texas to continue my education.

What motivated you to be a tutor?

My friends often told me that I helped them understand concepts they struggled with by explaining them in a way that really made the material stick. That feedback made me realize how much I enjoy breaking down information so it makes sense to others. I also have teaching experience, which I really enjoyed, so tutoring felt like a natural way to continue that on a smaller, more personal scale. Most of all, I enjoy supporting others and helping them feel more confident with challenging material.
