Welcome to UNT Health is an annual event designed exclusively for incoming students at UNT Health Fort Worth. This half day, conference-style event offers incoming students an opportunity to:

  • Connect with our esteemed faculty and staff.
  • Engage with emerging student leaders.
  • Explore our beautiful 33-acre campus and state-of-the-art facilities.

Attendees can also meet local apartment communities at the housing and resource fair, capture new professional headshots, and get sized for their white coat.

Who should attend? 

All incoming students are encouraged to attend the conference. This includes incoming students who will be joining the: 

  • Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences
  • College of Health Professions
  • College of Pharmacy
  • College of Nursing

We also welcome individuals who will support you during your academic journey at UNT Health, such as spouses, partners, parents, family members, or friends. Each incoming student may bring two guests. Please note that conference activities are not designed for younger children; if possible, we recommend making alternative arrangements.

Newly admitted students entering an online program will receive information about the Virtual Welcome to UNT Health: Incoming Student Conference, scheduled for Friday, July 17.

 

Agenda

Breakfast with the Dean and Faculty

Begin the day by connecting with the academic leaders who will support you throughout your program. Enjoy a light breakfast while meeting the dean, faculty members and program representatives in a relaxed, welcoming setting. This session offers an introduction to the academic culture, expectations and community you will experience as a student. It's also a chance to ask questiosn and start building connections that will guide you through your first year. 

Financial Aid, Student Finance and Student Health

This session will be offered twice. 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Start your day with foundational information to help you prepare for your transition into graduate and professional study. Morning programming focuses on financial readiness, student account information and key health requirements for incoming students.

Student Support Services

Midday programming highlights the student services and support systems available throughout your time on campus. These sessions introduce academic resources, well-being services and the campus professionals dedicated to helping you succeed.

Student Ambassador Panel

Finish the day with a student ambassador panel featuring current students across programs. This session provides personal insights, practical tips and an opportunity to hear directly from those who have recently been in your shoes.

 

Important Event Details

 

Arrival & Check-in

Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. We recommend arriving 15 to 20 minutes early to allow yourself time to park and grab breakfast before the first session begins.

Once the first session has begun at 8 a.m., check-in stations will be consolidated, and late arrivals may check-in at the Medical Education and Training Building (MET) lobby. Sessions will take place in several locations across campus. Common buildings include:

  • Medical Education and Training Building (MET)
  • Research and Education (RES)
  • Carl E. Everett Education & Administration Building (EAD)
  • Gibson D. Lewis Library (LIB)

Check-in locations are determined by the academic program the incoming student is entering. Please review the information below carefully to ensure you arrive at the correct location.

  • Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM): Check in at the MET lobby
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy: Check in at the RES first-floor lobby
  • College of Pharmacy: Check in at the RES first-floor lobby
  • Physician Assistant Studies: Check in on EAD second floor
  • College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences: Check in on EAD second floor
  • College of Nursing: Check in on EAD second floor

For Physician Assistant Studies, the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences, and the College of Nursing, please enter through the doors on Montgomery St. A large ramp is located off Montgomery St. Walk up the ramp and enter through those doors.

 

Free parking will be available on campus during the event. We recommend reviewing our campus map in advance to plan your arrival. Welcome To UNT Health attendees should park in Lot 19 or Lot 7, as these locations will be the most convenient for conference activities. Click below to view our UNT Health Campus Map. 
 
 
 

Business casual attire is recommended. Conference activities will take place in multiple locations across campus, and you will be walking outdoors between sessions. While the UNT Health campus is compact, comfortable footwear is strongly encouraged. Please also plan to dress appropriately for the weather.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)


This UNT Health campus map will help you orient yourself upon arrival. During Welcome to UNT Health, most conference activities will take place in the following four buildings:

  • Carl E. Everett Education and Administration Building (EAD): Building 1 on the map
  • Research and Education Building (RES): Building 2 on the map
  • Gibson D. Lewis Library (LIB): Building 3 on the map
  • Medical Education and Training Building (MET): Building 13 on the map. 

 

A continental breakfast will be served during check-in from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and will include breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, coffee and juice. 
 
A beverage station will be available during breakout sessions (8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.) on the first floor of the MET building. For those arriving later, any remaining breakfast items will be available near the beverage station. 
 
Lunch will not be provided. 

Yes. Each incoming student may bring no more than 2 guests. If you are bringing guests, please account for them when you register for the event.
 
Conference activities will take place in multiple buildings across campus, and a shuttle will be available for guests who need assistance traveling between locations. If you or a member of your party would like to use the shuttle, please ask any UNT Health staff member for assistance. 

Yes! Campus tours led by current students will be offered during a two-hour window of the event. Tours will depart from the MET lawn at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., and each tour will last approximately 45 minutes. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the UNT Health Regional Simulation Center and the Center for Anatomical Sciences. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. 

Our intention is to record most presentations and make them available to incoming students after the event. Recordings will be shared following the conference, barring any technical difficulities. 

Professional headshots will be offered at the event. They will be emailed to you within a few weeks after the event. 

Yes. There will be multiple opportunities over the summer to visit the UNT Health campus and meet with the Center for Student Life to receive your sizing. White coat sizing will also be offered during orientation.

Yes. There will be a 10 to 15 minute window between every session to allow for transition time.
