Medical Student Training in Aging Research Program
Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program is a summer research opportunity at the TCOM Department of Internal & Specialty Medicine for TCOM students (entering Year-II). MSTAR scholars participate in aging-related research under the guidance of top experts in geriatrics and aging, research didactics, clinical shadowing, community events, and have the opportunity to submit and present their work at a local, state, or national professional conferences. This is a unique opportunity for early exposure to research and clinical experiences that strengthen the residency application.

Students participating in the program may qualify for stipends.
Osteopathic Research Center Summer Program in Clinical Research
The Summer Program in Clinical Research (SPCR) offers TCOM students intensive training in clinical research design and methodology that continues during the following Fall and Spring Semesters under direct supervision of the Program Director. Using a mentored team research model, TCOM students are expected to contribute to background literature searches and hypothesis development, research design and implementation, statistical analysis using IBM SPSS software, display and interpretation of research results, and drafting and revising a research manuscript for publication in a medical journal. All research projects involve chronic pain, utilize data acquired from the Pain Registry for Epidemiological, Clinical, and Interventional Studies and Innovation (PRECISION), and build on previous studies published by the Program Director and covered in assigned journal club readings.
