Raniyah Ramadan
Dr. Raniyah Ramadan

NTERI is a proud partner of the Raniyah Ramadan Foundation.
Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Raniyah Ramadan attended Ada High School before joining the University of Oklahoma where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1998. Raniyah graduated with a Master’s degree from OU in 2000 and the following year was admitted into the PhD program at the Oklahoma Center for Neuroscience.
Mentored by Dr. Michelle Callegan, Raniyah graduated with her doctorate in Neuroscience
in 2007. Shortly after, Raniyah was awarded a prestigious post-doctoral research fellowship
in Cleveland, Ohio. Switching from academia to an industry position, Raniyah later
moved to Manhattan, New York where she worked as a research consultant in neuro-ophthalmology
with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.
Sadly, Raniyah passed away at age 34. To honor their late daughter’s memory, Raniyah’s parents — Dr. Tawfik and Siham Ramadan — established a foundation to support her favorite charities as well as establish scholarships in health sciences and promote ophthalmology and neuroscience research.
The North Texas Eye Research Institute (NTERI) is pleased to announce the Raniyah Ramadan Summer Research Scholarship Program, dedicated to the memory of Dr. Raniyah Ramadan.
More information about the program, submission forms, and deadlines coming soon.
Dr. Raniyah Ramadan was heavily involved in research and programs for neuro-ophthalmology. The family started the Dr. Raniyah Ramadan Foundation to honor her legacy. The foundation’s partnership with UNT Health celebrates her life, dreams and achievements while advancing her career posthumously.
