What is Be|Well?

Be|Well began as UNT Health's Quality Enhancement Plan five years ago in an effort to combat the growing trend of burnout seen in health professions. Since then, Be|Well has been successfully integrated into every program across the UNT Health campus.

We focus on curricular and co-curricular programming centered on wellbeing, resiliency, emotional intelligence, and burnout prevention — building the skills that carry you through your program and into your career.

You can find Be|Well through your Canvas course or by attending one of our many programs each semester. Ready to get involved?

Why does wellbeing matter?

Because the quality of your education, your clinical performance, and your ability to care for others is inseparable from how well you care for yourself.

Your wellbeing directly shapes how you learn, how you perform in clinical settings, how you make decisions under pressure, and how you show up for the people around you. The ability to focus, adapt, collaborate, and stay connected to your purpose all depend on the foundation you build for yourself.

Graduate and professional education is demanding, and that's not going to change once you're in practice. Be|Well exists to help you build the habits, self-awareness, and skills now that will carry you through your program and throughout your career. Not because it's required, but because you deserve to finish what you started without burning out along the way.

Our students will interact with Be|Well in three ways:

Students will identify concepts associated with and develop capacities for wellbeing, emotional intelligence, and resilience.

Your Be|Well journey starts here. During your first year at UNT Health, you will be automatically enrolled in the Be|Well Canvas course, designed to introduce you to the concepts and tools that support your wellbeing throughout your program.

The course covers resiliency, the different phases of stress, burnout prevention, and emotional intelligence — all framed around the real demands of graduate and professional education. It is self-paced and built to meet you where you are.

For questions about the course, reach out to Be|Well Assistant Director Sophie Brockman at Sophia.Brockman@unthealth.edu.

Students will create a stress management growth plan as part of the Emotional Intelligence pathway program.

Emotional intelligence is not just a buzzword. Research consistently shows it is one of the strongest predictors of professional success, burnout prevention, and the ability to connect with patients and colleagues.

In your first year, you will be invited to complete the EQ-i 2.0 Assessment and participate in debrief sessions led by certified faculty and staff. Your results will highlight your strengths and areas for growth, and you will use them to build a personalized Stress Growth Management Plan - a practical tool for navigating the hard moments in your program and beyond.

Students will investigate and demonstrate tools for wellbeing and burnout prevention through Be|Well co-curricular activities.

Be|Well hosts events every month during the academic year, and there is something for everyone. From resiliency workshops to community-building experiences to emotional regulation tools, our programming is designed to give you real skills you can use right away.

Every event connects back to the Be|Well Framework, so no matter which program you are in, Be|Well is relevant to your journey. Learn more about what we have coming up on our events page
