Get a Plot

The Community Garden has 35 raised garden beds (12' x 4') that are managed by individuals, groups and families. Gardeners do not need to be affiliated with the university to participate.

  • Seasonal Plot: January 1–June 30 or July 1–December 31 — $30 per six-month period
  • Year-Round Plot: January 1–December 31 — $40 per year

If a plot is available, gardeners may register and begin managing a plot at any time during the year.

Current gardeners in good standing who wish to keep their plot for the following year must re-register by Dec. 15.  Plots not renewed by that date will be made available to new gardeners.

All gardeners are required to review and sign the current Community Garden Guidelines & Agreement which outlines the expectations and responsibilities of maintaining a plot. Garden communications are conducted primarily through email.

Before beginning, all new gardeners must meet with a garden representative for an orientation to the garden and its practices.  

How to Apply

Contact the Office of Sustainability in Facilities Management to check plot availability.

If a plot is available, we will guide you through the registration process, including:

  • Completing the registration form
  • Paying the plot fee
  • Reviewing and signing the Community Garden Guidelines & Agreement
  • Scheduling a garden orientation

If no plots are currently available, you may request to be added to the waiting list and will be contacted when a plot becomes available.

Volunteer at the Garden

Group working in a garden bedWe offer volunteer opportunities at the garden for individuals, groups and organizations. Participants can get involved through one-time events or on an ongoing basis. Please contact us for more information or to get started.

Volunteers typically assist with the following activities:

  • Harvesting produce for the Student Food Pantry
  • Watering garden beds
  • Supporting gardeners with bed maintenance and planting
  • Turning and managing compost
  • Maintaining and planting in common areas and public pick plots
  • Cleaning and organizing the tool shed
