Admission Requirements

UNT Health conducts holistic application reviews. A completed bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required from an institutionally accredited college or university. No specific degree, prerequisite coursework, or GPA is required. 

Applications are reviewed once they have been completed and verified by SOPHAS. UNT Health does not offer conditional or provisional admission. All items must be received in order for an application to be reviewed and a decision rendered.

To Apply:

• Create an account in SOPHAS, the online application portal.

In addition to the SOPHAS-required documentation of official U.S./Canadian transcripts and C.V./Resume, please provide the following additional documentation with your application:

• Three (3) Short Answer Questions. These questions provide the opportunity for you to describe your academic, humanistic, and diverse experiences and how they inform and impact your school/career plans.
• Three (3) Letters of Recommendation. Ideal sources include academic professors, academic advisors and employment/internship supervisors. 
• International Transcripts must be professionally evaluated. Please see details at International Admissions Requirements.

The GRE exam is no longer required for MPH programs.

Other Requirements:

• Application Fee to SOPHAS.
• International Applicants must demonstrate English language skills. Please see details at International Admissions Requirements.

A Master’s Degree or equivalent, earned from an institutionally accredited college or university, is required.

UNT Health conducts holistic application reviews. No specific degree or prerequisite coursework is required. A GPA minimum of 3.0 is required. Although a minimum GPA has been established, admission to the program is highly competitive.

• Statement of Purpose and Objectives (personal statement) describing your interest in the field of study (degree and concentration) to which you are applying, your career goals, how the program will help you reach those goals and why you chose the UNT Health Department of Public Health to pursue your graduate education.
• Three (3) Letters of Recommendation: Recommendations should come from individuals familiar with your academic or professional abilities-such as professors, advisors, or supervisors. Students currently enrolled in another master’s or doctoral program should include a letter from current program faculty.
• Writing Sample: Demonstrates your scholarly or professional writing ability.

Applicants to the Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences program indicate primary and secondary faculty mentor choices during the application process.

The GRE is encouraged but not required. (UNT Health code: 6565)

UNT Health conducts holistic application reviews. A completed bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required. No specific undergraduate courses are required.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Certificate admission requires a 2.5 GPA minimum.
• Official transcripts from all colleges & universities attended (upon acceptance).
• Create an account and apply via the GradCAS online application portal. This process will include personal information and academic history.

Submit the following to SOPHAS Express:

• • Unofficial transcripts. Transcripts from all schools attended, even schools that didn’t ultimately award a degree; all are required.

Admitted students will be required to submit official transcripts to UNT Health prior to enrolling in classes.

• Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae. Your resume should reflect your full history including volunteer activities, clubs, research, conference presentations and relevant work experience.
• $65 application fee due to SOPHAS Express.

In addition to the requirements indicated above, international applicants must demonstrate satisfactory proficiency in oral and written English and have their transcripts professionally evaluated. Please see details at International Admissions Requirements.

International applicants should submit their application 6 weeks prior to the international applicant deadline. This will allow sufficient time for WES to process the transcript evaluation report and adequate time for visa processing.
