UNT Health conducts holistic application reviews. A completed bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required from a recognized institution. No specific degree, prerequisite coursework, or GPA is required.

  • Starting in the 2027-2028 application cycle (for enrollment in Fall 2028), the following requirement will be implemented:
    • Master’s Degree: Earned from an institutionally accredited institution (or equivalent).
       
  • For applicants in the 2026-2027 application cycle (for enrollment in Fall 2027):
    • Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Completion of an MA, MS, MPH, or a related master’s degree(s) is preferred.

  • Statement of Purpose and Objectives (personal statement) describing your interest in the field of study (degree and concentration) to which you are applying, your career goals, how the program will help you reach those goals and why you chose the UNT Health Department of Public Health to pursue your graduate education.
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation: Recommendations should come from individuals familiar with your academic or professional abilities-such as professors, advisors, or supervisors. Students currently enrolled in another master’s or doctoral program should include a letter from current program faculty.
  • Writing Sample: Demonstrates your scholarly or professional writing ability.
  • International Transcripts:WES ICAP evaluation (or suitable equivalent documentation if approved by UNT Health) is required for all coursework completed outside the United States. Please see details under "International Applicants" below.

UNT Health conducts holistic application reviews. A completed bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required. No specific undergraduate courses are required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate admission requires a 2.5 GPA minimum.
  • Official transcripts from all colleges & universities attended (upon acceptance).
  • Create an account and apply via the SOPHAS Express online application portal. This process will include personal information and academic history.
  • UNT Health Processing Fee of $75

Submit the following to SOPHAS Express:

    • Unofficial transcripts. Transcripts from all schools attended, even schools that didn’t ultimately award a degree; all are required.

Admitted students will be required to submit official transcripts to UNT Health prior to enrolling in classes.

  • Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae. Your resume should reflect your full history including volunteer activities, clubs, research, conference presentations and relevant work experience.
  • $60 application fee due to SOPHAS Express.

In addition to the requirements indicated above, international applicants must demonstrate satisfactory proficiency in oral and written English before being granted admission. The TOEFL or IELTS is waived if the applicant has earned a high school diploma, or a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution within the United States or Canada.

The minimum accepted score for TOEFL is 85 on the traditional 1-120 scale and 4.0 on the new 1-6 scale. TOEFL Codes:

SOPHAS: 5688
HAMPCAS: B589

IELTS scores are accepted for SOPHAS applicants only. The IELTS exam must have been taken within the last 2 years. Details are available in the SOPHAS Help Center. The minimum accepted score for IELTS is 6.5.

A WES ICAP evaluation (or suitable equivalent documentation if approved by UNT Health) must be submitted to the application service (not UNT Health Fort Worth) for any academic records from institutions outside the U.S. and English-speaking Canada.

  • When applying through SOPHAS, please ensure your WES evaluation includes your SOPHAS ID to ensure proper routing.
  • If you ordered your WES evaluation without including your SOPHAS ID, click here for instructions (select “SOPHAS” from the drop-down menu and scroll to “Additional Information”).
