Sustainable Office Certification
The Sustainable Office Certification (SOC) is a new program through UNT Health Sustainability. This program identifies sustainable actions and best practices in office settings and provides a framework and resources to implement them. SOC is self-paced, and offices are given recognition based on the number of actions completed.
Certification Levels
Offices are certified based on how many actions the office implements, and prizes are awarded for Silver, Gold, and Platinum Certifications. The actions are divided into five categories: Engagement, Reduce – Reuse – Recycle, Sustainable Purchasing, Meetings & Events, and People & Resources.
Steps to Certification
- Register: Submit the registration form to UNT Health Sustainability.
- Orientation: Sustainability will review the program with representatives from the office.
- Complete Actions: Complete the actions needed to achieve your desired certification level. A full list of actions and instructions provided at orientation.
- Review: Once your actions are complete, Sustainability will verify the actions during an office visit.
- Certification: Based on the number of actions implemented, the office will be awarded. You will receive an award plaque, recognition, and prizes (if applicable).
- Recertification: Offices can get recertified one year after their last certification.
