Events & Outreach
Annual Earth Day Event
Earth Day began in 1970 as a nationwide call to protect public health by safeguarding our natural resources. Since 2013, UNT Health Sustainability has carried on that tradition through our annual Earth Day Celebration, focused on supporting a healthy planet and healthy people. This year's celebration featured free electronic waste recycling, clothing and book swaps, a craft supply exchange, organizations from around the region, and more. You can learn about the 2026 event at unthealth.edu/earthday! Our next celebration will be in April 2027.
Sustainable Office Certification
The Sustainable Office Certification (SOC) is a new program through UNT Health Sustainability. It identifies sustainable actions and best practices in office settings and provides a framework and resources to implement them. SOC is self-paced, and offices are given recognition based on the number of actions completed. Contact us for more information and to get started.
Lab Efficiency Action Program
LEAP incentivizes labs to be more efficient and sustainable while prioritizing the integrity of the research. By taking actions such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and purchasing more sustainably, UNT Health labs can be awarded up to $2000. Learn more about LEAP.
UNT Health Community Garden
The garden, managed by Sustainability, has many opportunities to volunteer and get involved. Learn more by visiting unthealth.edu/communitygarden.
