Admission Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria and provide these materials as part of their application in SOPHAS: 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) earned from a regionally accredited institution  
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities 
  • Curriculum vitae or resume 
  • Minimum GPA: A cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • Three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your academic or professional abilities, such as professors, advisors or supervisors. Students currently enrolled in another master’s or doctoral program should include a letter from current program faculty. 
  • Personal statement outlining your academic interests, research goals and professional aspirations 
  • Writing sample that demonstrates your scholarly or professional writing ability 
  • The GRE is encouraged but not required. Submit scores using code 6565.
